Rita (Gnarly x Popcorn)

This little ewe arrived and put us all on notice. We better be ready to rock and roll because she was ready! Her breeding is where her power comes from. She's stacked hard with MacLennan genetics and it shows. She's out of Gnarly and one of our Popcorn ewes. Following her line just a touch farther, she's double stacked with White Chocolate.

• 2024: She is teamed up with Hobbs' infamous Thunder for a dynamite lamb in early February.  

This little ewe has been fun to watch. She had a rough go early with her mom getting pretty sick when she was 2 weeks old. We saved her mom but she lost all of her milk, so we raised her on goat milk until weaning. You would think she was as tame as could be, but she's still just as much as a fireball as day one. That's ok! She's pretty cool and worth the headache!. She doesn't have a deep show record as we just pulled her out for county before we put her back out to be bred.

Lamb Record: 

• 2024: Like Rita, she matched up with Hobbs' Thunder for a late February lamb. Chances are that we won't show her lamb(s) but they'll go into the keeper pen too! 

Janet has been a handful from day one but given her genetics, we stuck her on our show string this summer. Rachel showed her to numerous showmanship wins at jackpots and placed 3rd overall in juniors at county. She is pretty as can be and should throw something fun from this year's breeding.

Lamb Record:

• 2024: Like the rest of our ewe lambs, she paired up with Hobbs' Thunder for a late January lamb. She threw a fantastic ram lamb that someone should have a lot of fun feeding out and campaigning! 

Darla is one of those ewes that caught everyone's eye early on. She was purchased by one of our favorite showman and campaigned lightly through jackpot season and shown at county fair. She easily held her own in a tough market class and found her want into the Final Drive. We happily bought her back and added her into our breeding flock.

• 2023: 2nd Place in Medium Weight Market Lambs, San Luis Valley County Fair.

Lamb Record: 

• We turned her out with Hobbs' Thunder this summer but being a ewe lamb, she couldn't quite settle a pregnancy. That's ok! We will happily wait another year for her to grow and see what she offers up next year. 

Annabelle is the twin to Clarabelle and does all the right things. Blends seamlessly from her neck to her shoulder and again blends into her loin and hip just perfectly. She may not be as wide as her sister, but makes up for it with being super correct and is unstoppable on the move.

• 2023: Hannah hoped to bring her back as a yearling to give those lambs a run for their money in the breeding classes, we decided to turn her out with Sven instead.  

Lamb Record: 

• 2023: Matched up with Sven for a first timer, she threw a fun little ram lamb, Steve. He was shown by a first time showman and ended up 2nd in class at county!  He balanced mass with correct structure and a nice blend through his shoulder to his hip. 
• 2024: We bred her to our new ram lamb, Rocket out of Road Rage. She's due in late January and we are hoping to see a ewe lamb this time! 

Clarabelle is a big hipped, big framed and correct little ewe out of an amazing combo. She may not be as correct as her twin Annabelle, but she makes up for it with width and mass. She was a force in the ring at early Spring jackpots. Unfortunately, she had a freak accident a week before fair and broke her leg. We were able to set the break (thanks to help from a visiting ER physician!) and after a few months of healing, she is good as new. We still love her and her babies are out of this world!

Lamb Record: 

• 2023: We bred her to Gnarly from MacLennan lambs and gosh, she hit the mark! One incredible ewe lamb that Emily named Rita. Rita was successful in spring jackpots and was Supreme Grand Champion Overall Breeding Ewe and Grand Champion Breeding Ewe Lamb at San Luis Valley County Fair. We pulled her lamb off the show string after county to AI her to Hobbs Show Lambs Thunder! 
• 2024: Matched up to Hobbs Show Lambs' Thunder, we are excited to see what she produces this winter. 

We might call her "Mean Ole Yellow Tag" during lambing, but she is one of our sweetest ewes on the farm. She just gets a bit overprotective over her lambs. Given the quality of them, we can't blame her at all.  She finally gave us a ewe lamb and gosh, we are over the moon!

•  2020 Reserve Grand Overall Market Lamb at San Luis Valley Fair

 Lamb Record:  

• 2021: Cedric, Keeper Ram out of Sven. He ended up as the 2021 Reserve Grand Champion Crossbred Ram and the 2021 Reserve Grand Champion Crossbred Ram Lamb at the Colorado State Fair. 
• 2022: Twin ram lambs, Mike & Sulley out of American Outlaw.  Sulley was sold to another 4H showman who had a great run with him! Emily campaigned Mike from early spring jackpots all the way to Cheyenne Livestock Expo in November. He was countless final drives at jackpots, took a few Reserve Grands there, 3rd Overall at County and made the sift at both Colorado State Fair as well as Cheyenne Livestock Expo! 
• 2023: We had a rough go with AI and unfortunately Luna ended up with an infection from it that took a long time to clear up. She rebred with Sven for a late March lamb and gosh, that little ewe lamb was worth the wait!!! Alcatraz went straight into the keeper pen! 

This little ewe took the mass from Sven and the bone from Bunny. She is wide, balanced and correct. We are over the moon with her and can't wait to see what her show career will look like. Given that she is mellow and easy going, we have paired her up with our novice showman to hit the jackpot circuit before a big sister continues on with her

• 2022: Reserve Champion Breeding Lamb at San Luis Valley County Fair, multiple wins in Novice Showmanship with Rachel at jackpots. 

Lamb Record: 

• 2023: Hop made a nice little ewe lamb with Sven that arrived ready to rock! Rachel named her Layla and had hoped to keep her. A young showman called us with little time before their county tagging in need of a solid lamb. Rachel agreed to sell Layla and let this little ewe shine. She did great and took great care of her little showman. 
• 2024: Hop was bred back to Sven for a early January 2024 lamb! 

Lucky Charms got her name from arriving backwards and standing up like that is how everyone entered the world. She is a little powerhouse and we can't wait to see what she produces. Given her successful show career, she has the potential to make some amazing lambs. She is bred to Sven for a late spring lamb this year!

• 2021: Reserve Champion Overall Breeding Ewe, Reserve Champion Breeding Ewe Lamb at San Luis Valley 6 County Fair. 11th in January Born Lambs and used for Grand Champion Junior Breeding Showman at Colorado State Fair. 

She has been sold, with her twin, to a great family just starting out on their show lamb journey. We couldn't be happier for them and wish them all the best! 

Lavender is a big boned, stout ewe that is easy to pick out of a crowd. She's easily one of our bigger girls and has a great breeding record. Her lambs consistently grow well and are easy to handle for young or first time showman.

• 2020: Supreme Grand Champion Overall Ewe and Grand Champion Breeding Ewe Lamb at San Luis Valley Fair  
• 2021: 4th place at Relentless Jackpot in Vernal, Utah - replacement show for Arizona National due to COVID.   

Lamb Record: 

• 2022: One huge ram lamb, Ernie, sold to a local 4H family. Look for him in this summer as we are very excited to watch this duo in the ring. 

 Oh sweet Violet. The first one to greet anyone at the gate. She proudly brings her lambs up to show them off and well, any other lambs she can snag too. She's an great mom and just as easy on the eyes. Big hipped, deep flanked and shag for days. She was shown by one of our daughters as a first year showman and we just couldn't let her go after that.

• 2019: Supreme Reserve Champion Overall Breeding Ewe, Reserve Champion Breeding Ewe Lamb at San Luis Valley Fair
• 2020: Reserve Champion Yearling Breeding Ewe

Lamb Record: 

• 2022: Twin lambs hit the ground in mid January. Her ram lamb is one of the nicest that has hit the ground here. Look for him in the ring this year from jackpots to national level shows, this one will show all summer long!  We hope to retain her little ewe lamb. 
• 2023 : We decided to give Violet a year off after she didn't take with AI and we will bred her next year. 
• 2024: We went back to basics with Violet this year, skipped the AI and matched her with Sven for a Jan 2024 lamb. Fingers crossed for a ewe lamb! 

This little diva has been spunky since the day she was born. Out of 808 and Sven, she managed to get all the best parts from both parents. Shown from jackpots to state fair, she was a consistent performer. Plans are to breed her as a yearling this year. We can't wait to see what she puts on the ground!

Kennedy is out of one of our favorite ewes, 808. She had a great show career and we were happy to hang onto her to add to our breeding flock. Kennedy has produced some dynamite lambs, including twins out of both Popcorn and Sven.

• 2020: Grand Champion Yearling Breeding Ewe, 3rd Overall Breeding Ewe at San Luis Valley County Fair.

Lamb Record: 

• 2021: Twin ram lambs out of Sven, Thunder & Carl; Thunder was Grand Champion Fed and Bred Market Lamb at San Luis Valley 6 County Fair, made 1st sift for a 16th at Aksarben Stock Show. Both wethers had a successful jackpot career as well as winning their market classes at county. 
• 2022: Twin ewe lambs out of Popcorn. These two ewes will be shown this year and they have already earned their spot in our breeding flock. Clarabelle was not shown due a freak accident, breaking her leg the week before fair. Annabelle ended up Supreme Grand Champion Overall Breeding Ewe and Grand Champion Ewe Lamb at San Luis Valley County Fair. 
• 2023: Another ewe that struggled after a rough AI, we treated the infection and let her go out with Sven. She threw a nice little twin set, although a smidge late to really get in the ring. 
• 2024: Kennedy is matched up with our newest ram lamb, Rocket. We are excited to see what that matchup will bring!  

808, also called Freedom Fighter, is one of our core ewes. We were blessed to start with an amazing breeder who is just as passionate as we are. They set us up for success by starting our flock out on the right foot. This ewe is big in all the right places. She's solid, easy moving and big hipped. She is our most profitable ewe, throwing twins or triplets every year but one. She also takes all the best pieces of the ram and throws lambs that are just amazing. We have tried to keep every daughter out of her because of this.

• 2018: 3rd Place Breeding Ewes at San Luis Valley 6 County Fair

Lamb Record: 

• 2019: Twin lambs out of QT, including a keeper ewe lamb, Kennedy. See above for her show record. 
• 2020: One massive ram lamb, unfortunately wasn't shown. 
• 2021: Twin ewe lambs! Apple and Lucky, both keeper ewes. See below for their show record. 
• 2022: Triplet ewes! And given how much we like her, we hope to keep all of them. One of them is set to show with an amazing 4H family this year. Hopefully we will get the chance to buy her back! 

Oh Chunky Monkey. This not so dainty ewe has been a farm favorite since she arrived as a ewe lamb. She doesn't have the most impressive show record, or even breeding record, but we just love this big girl. She consistently puts lambs on the ground and patiently raises them up. Her genetics probably won't make the ring again but we keep her around just the same

Show Record: 

• 2018: 5th in class, Market, San Luis Valley County Fair.

Lamb Record: 

• 2018-2020: She didn't take, why we keep her....well, we just like her sassy self. 
• 2021: Finally! Two ram lambs out of Sven that were big hipped and solid. Emily showed Big Bud at county to take Reserve Champion Bred and Fed. 
• 2022: Matched back up with Sven,  she produced Tom and Jerry. Unfortunately, they arrived about two weeks early and while we were able to save them, their show careers ended before they could start due to their early arrival. 
• 2023:We AI'ed her to Hobbs Show Lambs' Lobo and she gave us another set of twins. Eight and Nine were both privately sold and had great show careers with their new owners. 
• 2024: As 805 gets a bit older, we decided she didn't need the stress of AI. We put her into our retirement pen and she's enjoying lounging in the sunshine and watching everyone else work for a living.
